With some clients coming for Fall Mini-Sessions soon I thought it might be nice to post about clothing selection. It sounds intimidating, but clothing selection can be fun (and shouldn’t be stressful!) Please don’t wear all Khaki pants or black tops. That is easy, but do families dress like that in real life?
Be creative and have some fun! Here are some tips to get that fun, not “matching” look….
1. Start with a favorite piece of clothing. Maybe it’s your daughters favorite dress or your favorite sweater.
2. Pick another color that compliments your favorite clothing. You have just decided on your color “scheme”.
3. Then search the closets of dark blue, brown, or any other complimentary color.
4. Find accessories. Scarfs, hats, and earings will help pull the “look” together.
Here are some outfit samples from mini-boden and a sample color scheme.

Another clothing sample and color scheme. In this color scheme mom might look great in a brown jacket with a pink scarf. Dad could be in a green polo shirt. The possibilities are endless… and FUN!

After 31 straight days of rain I wasn’t sure what kind of day we were going to get at the top of Alyeska for Frank & Colleen’s wedding. Even driving out to Girdwood I was skeptical. The weather can be so different on the mountain. We were blessed with an gorgeous- I mean gorgeous- evening at the top of the mountain! It was one of the most beautiful days of the entire summer! It was s simple ceremony with only 20 or so quests, no bridesmaids, not a lot of “frills” but it was the simplicity that made it so beautiful! Two people celebrating their love and commitment to each other. Two people creating a new family and life together. What an amazing evening! Congratulations to Frank & Colleen and their family!

I love shooting weddings and I’ve been looking forward to Brandon and Jolene’s wedding all summer! I love all the little details, all the special moments, laughter and fun. The bride and her friends got ready and Fringe Hair Studio in downtown Anchorage. What a great salon and the girls hair and make-up looked fantastic. The brides bouquet was so unique and the flowers were simply beautiful! Cory at Cory Carroll designs did the bouquet and beautiful floral design for the head table. The ceremony was at St. Patricks Catholic church. The deacon’s words on love and marriage were inspirational and made me tear up a few times. We had hoped for a sunny July day, but in Alaska you just take what you get. The weather didn’t worry the bride at all and the bridal party braved a bit of wind and rain to get a few outdoor pictures. This wedding was a family affair and the bride and groom were definately surrounded by friends and family who love and support them. The reception room was decorated by the auntie Fannie and Branda. They did an amazing job on making each table unique. When the bridal party walked in to the song, “Tonight’s gonna be a good night” I just knew the reception was going to be fun! We were able to set up a photobooth and get a few fun shots of guests having some fun with the camera. Congratulation Mr. & Mrs. Telford!

It seems like fall is in the air and I personally am ready and excited. I know call me crazy but I love the colors, the crisp air, and cool days. Fall is my favorite time of year! I am only doing a few “mini-sessions” this year and have set aside a few dates for fall portraits. The space is limited to 10 sessions so please contact me early.
If weather permitting the session will be outdoors at a local park. If our Alaska weather gives us rain then sessions will be at the studio. Sessions are limited to immediate family and you will view approx. 20 images from the session.

I just wanted to share some images of this cutie pie! I love getting to photograph babies during their first year. It’s so fun to see them grow and develop their little personalities during the year. I can’t wait for his 1st Birthday session in a couple months.
